When the News is overwhelming how do you cope?

We live in desperate times. Desperate people do desperate things. Overwhelming us with messages of doom and gloom. Not just here in our country but anyone watching world events see the message on the wall.  Any one who knows the word of God will see the times are unlike any before in History and aligning up with prophecy to the Day of the Lord.  None of us look to that day with euphoria. However we have been given a strategy from God's word.
Each day comes with news of imminent collapse of the financial world, the economy is on the brink.  The nations have all started the unthinkable and gearing up with more nukes and more military.  There is no unity among our people in this nation or the world nations.  Poverty rages, terrorist rule over peace now.  In the midst of booming technology we are hearing of less jobs, and the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Would God want us to be overwhelmed, fearful and anxious?  What does He say to us to help us in these days where so much is happening that we are getting depressed and feeling like we are carrying a huge burden weakening our resolve?

Note:As I was coming out of the swimming pool building this morning at 5:45 am it was still totally dark.  A mist of rain coming down. Yet I heard a bird singing in the dark.

That bird is singing because it knows the light of day is coming soon.  He can not fly about yet, or eat to his hearts desire yet.  But he sings.  Day is coming and so is it for us.  This may shock you but God is clearly Rejoicing!
Why? Because we are entering the most awesome time in His Holy Plan!!!  The time God the Father and Christ the Son has worked so long for is about to happen!  Christ is coming back!  This is great news.  Not sad, not what the world wants you to think.  The world will be saved, the people will be redeemed and a new world order and peace will come soon!  We have HOPE.  We have GOD who is going to step in to save us all!

But not yet.  As the bird sings it was not yet the light but dark.  Not yet!  But soon light would come.  There are still things that must take place before Christ returns.  By the way many "christians" talk you would think they do not want Christ to return.  They say. "What can we do to stop this or that"  ??
We cannot stop the tide.  It is this tide of world chaos and sin that is leading to Christ's return just as HE SAID it would.  Life is not as it was so lets gear up.  It is war!  War against the three S's. Satan, Society, and Self.

2Co 10:3  For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
2Co 10:4  (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
2Co 10:5  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

2Co 10:6  And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Paul knew well the spiritual battle we war against. It is not a physical battle against the sin of the world but the sin within each of us.  When he talks of "casting down imaginations, against the knowledge of god" he is talking about all arguments, thoughts and plans that we all are facing every day in our thoughts, in what society is trying to pass as Good when it is not, and everything that is the opposite of what God teaches if perfect right and good.  Do not walk after the flesh as the world does,  cling to Gods way, in your mind (thoughts) your speech, (what you say) and what you DO!

God says "do not fear" over and over again to His children in His word. Why? Because He WILL be with us!  He IS with us!

Here are my simple ways to battle and overcome today:
Take the offensive not defensive
  1. 1.
    an attacking military campaign.
"an impending military offensive against the guerrillas"
    "a military offensive"
1. Pray. Pray often. Morning, noon and night.  When ever and where ever.  Go in the bathroom and pray. Pray before you get out of bed.  Pray after you get out of bed. Be on the go with prayer.

2. Worship and sing! Sing with the radio, your saved favorite spiritual uplifting songs.  I listen to K-LOVE radio every morning.  If I have a time during the day and need help to get my mind right I will turn it on again. I have a long list of faith filled songs on computer and phone too.  Sing with them even if you can not hold a tune.  Sing like the bird and you will feel better!

3. Stop watching the news so much.  You need to be aware but do not sit for hours listening to it.  It is what it is.  God knows.  God is in control of events and if He is allowing it, do not think you have power to change its course.  But:  You have power to change how you react to it! Be that bird to others every day. Encouraging and uplifting with hope.

4. Keep in physical condition.  Exercise in any way you can.  There is no doubt that this helps your mental condition as well.

5. Study and read Joyce Meyers book, "The battlefield of the mind".  We have a mental battle to win.  All thoughts we think are NOT OUR OWN!  Satan is putting thoughts in our mind that are opposite of Gods will!
He is called the deceiver of the whole world!  Take control of what you think about and how you react to thoughts.  Thoughts lead to actions.

God I pray for each and every reader that comes here to this page. May the spirit of God touch them and enlighten them to know your truth and your peace. Not as the world brings but your peace and love that sets us truly free.  In the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ I pray, AMEN!
