Whatever is not acted on in faith is then a Offense .....

The word of God says:
whatever is not of faith is sin

So what does this mean for believers of God? It is the heart of going against your conscious of what you are convicted in your soul is right? I am speaking of what is truth according to the ways of God not man's truth.
This was written to show that depth of showing love to others and yourself.
Example:  If I am invite a dear friend to dinner and I know that they believe it is sin (see def. below) to eat  meat. Yet because I do not believe it is sin and make it and they eat of it so as to not offend me, they do indeed sin against their moral convictions.  I also sin for I (knowingly) did not take into consideration their belief of God and put it before them.
If this had been accidental and I had not known they only eat vegetarian foods it would not be sin for me.

If I had served only vegetarian food and they ask me if I eat meat and why,  I can explain the faith of why I do. This way we are showing the true faith in God and His manner of teaching all people according to their needs.

Romans 14:23
New International Version
But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

wikipedia  Crime: (offense)
In ordinary language, the term crime denotes an unlawful act punishable by a state.[1] The term "crime" does not, in modern criminal law, have any simple and universally accepted definition,[2] though statutory definitions have been provided for certain purposes.[3] The most popular view is that crime is a category created by law; in other words, something is a crime if declared as such by the relevant and applicable law.[2] One proposed definition is that a crime or offence (or criminal offence) is an act harmful not only to some individual or individuals but also to a community, society or the state ("a public wrong"). Such acts are forbidden and punishable by law.[1][4]

I want to explain this in broader terms.   Any action I do faith is  showing God's Word, and way of Love to all.  Everything I do and think will be measured by how God acts and is.  As wikipedia denotes, "The most popular view is that crime is a category created by law;"
We must have a law to go by.  In this case I believe God's Laws of Love toward Him first and then to all others is the only true law. For He is my creator and maker and the one who loves me and cares for me.  In any case there are laws in each state, country and nation.  They are there to keep peace and provide protection for the people.  God's laws do it perfectly where as mans laws fail more often than not to provide these things.

In mans law there is a speed limit.  Why?  Because it is not safe for you or anyone else to drive 100 mph down the city streets or highways.  If you do not obey the law of the speed limit you will be corrected with either a fine or jail time.
Rest of Wikipedia def:
in other words, something is a crime if declared as such by the relevant and applicable law.[2] One proposed definition is that a crime or offence (or criminal offence) is an act harmful not only to some individual or individuals but also to a community, society or the state ("a public wrong"). Such acts are forbidden and punishable by law.[1][4]

Same with God's laws.  They were given to teach us right from wrong so that we do not harm ourselves and others.  So that our lives would be filled with joy , peace, fulfillment, hope, creativity, purpose.

Now take this further in studying and analyzing your intent every day in every situation.  "what soever is NOT of faith, (the truth of Gods way of living, is sin (the offense or crime is punishable or paid with a penalty )

Thus it is sin to lie.  Why do you lie.  Because it serves you in some way.  Not God but you to lie.  put anything you do in the blank and ask if it serves you or does it serve and honor God?  If you endanger someones life your own or others it does not serve Gods purpose for you.  If you defraud or steal it serves not  God. It may seem to serve you and you do it for you but it results are going to be the opposite of what you thought you would reap.

It really gets down inside your soul.  Your attitudes, your actions, your thoughts.

There are no fence sitters in this.  You are either a believer in God Almighty and DO the things He teaches or you are a unbeliever and do not Do the things of God.  You act in Love as God shows  you true love or you do NOT show love except to what you want and when and how.  It is either your way or God's way and in the end only God's way is perfect and just.  You can not be a "good person" and not do the things of God.
