Titus 3 Study

New Living Translation (NLT)

Do What Is Good

Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient, always ready to do what is good. They must not slander anyone and must avoid quarreling. Instead, they should be gentle and show true humility to everyone.

NOTE:  Here we find that Paul was exhorting the "believers" to obey the laws of their government and not to be saying or doing anything that is against the ways of God.  We are not to slander the ones in government no matter who they are.  GOD is the Judge of them.  GOD was the one who ALLOWED them to be where they are and He will decide their fate not us.  We are to be the examples that Christ Gave us as He walked the earth.  Did Christ go about gossiping and talking about the political views of the reigning government or people there? No!  He was teaching, day in and day out how to be more like God.  Depending on the Father for all our needs, for protection and substance. It is so easy to fall into side taking.  This view or that view,  exclaiming our views and thoughts according to the flesh.  We all have personal "opinions". But we need to separate ourselves from the world and think, speak and act as God would.  From HIS view, HIS way of living.  If there is going to be any change for good it will be with us changing first. And we all have a lot to change in our selves!!

Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other.

Note: Isn't that the truth!  Here we are new in Christ and the first thing we want to do is start condemning others , spreading rumors, find the worst in our brother/ sister and not remembering WE were just as they are before God started changing us.  We are NOT perfect and have to concentrate on becoming more like Jesus Christ.

But—“When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.[a] He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. Because of his grace he declared us righteous and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.” This is a trustworthy saying, and I want you to insist on these teachings so that all who trust in God will devote themselves to doing good. These teachings are good and beneficial for everyone.

9 Do not get involved in foolish discussions about spiritual pedigrees[b]or in quarrels and fights about obedience to Jewish laws. These things are useless and a waste of time. 10 If people are causing divisions among you, give a first and second warning. After that, have nothing more to do with them. 11 For people like that have turned away from the truth, and their own sins condemn them.

And this last paragraph verse 9-11:

What do you suppose God thinks when He sees his children who are suppose to be the examples of HIS ways of love, cooperation ,unity, caring, maturity in Christ, as they get into huge endless disputes and controversies over things that do not help anyone grow in Grace?

I personally HATE divisions.  There is no truth but God's truth and for each believer God will teach us what is right and what is wrong.  IF we are not exactly right in some small area of belief, God will IF we seek Truth daily SHOW us the right way.  We are not going to change someone who does not believe exactly as we do if they are determined they are right.  And besides we might be wrong!  Maybe we have not grown to spiritual maturity yet, or maybe they have not. Should we not rather humble ourselves and spend more time in prayer and study Pursuing the truth. This means a striving, struggling after the Truth.  Not some haphazard attempt.  I remember going one full year of day and night Striving in truth.  Not sleeping a whole night, but struggling to understand some points in my spiritual growth until GOD showed me TRUTH.  Do you not Know that when you Do this God will answer you!  Are you so set in your ways you cannot learn?  Would you not be willing to leave the answer to God and seek HIS answer?  Not some view of the world, or some single person but let God lead you to truth.  How much are you willing to sacrifice to really understand why and what God wants us to know?  If you are not willing to put forth the effort you will stay blind and in the dark thinking you know it all.

John 9:40-41

New Living Translation (NLT)

40 Some Pharisees who were standing nearby heard him and asked, “Are you saying we’re blind?”
41 “If you were blind, you wouldn’t be guilty,” Jesus replied. “But you remain guilty because you claim you can see.

The bible is the source of truth. The beginning of truth begins with you being willing to learn and keep learning.  EVEN if it means you are not in with the majority.  For I have found that the true believers are the few not the many.  No one knows these true believers But Christ himself but the word does tell us that they are the minority in this age. But by their fruits you can tell if they are at least trying to be true believers.
