Sandy Hook and Hurricane Sandy ...................

Yesterday on December 14th 2012, the small town of Sandy Hook Ct woke up as all cities across america do.  The people  hurried through breakfast and got their little children off to school.  Just another day. While mom and family are gearing up for Christmas, most people already have presents for the kids under a tree.  But this day was different.  This day 20 children will not be coming home.  Did the parents say good bye with a smile and warm hug?  Did they argue and fight before they left?  Nothing matters now but that the tiny little grade school children will not come home any more in this lifetime.  I still remember that night my husband left and never returned.  Killed by a drunk driver. But one always go over and over in their minds did I say good bye, did we part that last time in love? I pray for all the parents at this hard time.

Another moms' child who grew up to the age of around 20, that same morning shot his mother dead.  Then went to that grade school and shot those 20 children as well as some adults there and later himself.  Again as so many other times we can not wrap out minds around the "WHY?"

But it is also just not that long ago our eastern shores where hit with Hurricane Sandy!  Homes and lives lost.  Not to some deranged mental person but weather.  Not seen before on our shores.

I could not help but notice that the word SANDY is in both of these tragic occurrences.  God has given me a ability to hear Him and see what is happening around in the spiritual sense.  This song below instantly came to mind.  Because as a nation we have demanded that GOD be taken out of our schools.

But more importantly, God has been taken out of our hearts.  I am speaking as a nation not for every single individual.  We have so much that as one young man told others, " I do not need a God in my life"!  As I shake my head in sorrow I know we all need God and the days are proving that.  Without God we are on sandy soil.

Matthew 7:24-27

New International Version (NIV)

The Wise and Foolish Builders

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

Lyrics to the song:The Solid Rock

The Solid Rock (my Hope Is Built On Nothing Less)

Verse 1

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness
i dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' Name

Chorus

On Christ the solid Rock, i stand - All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

Verse 2

When darkness veils His lovely face, i rest on His unchanging grace
In every high stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil

Verse 3

His oath, His covenant, His blood support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay

Verse 4

When He shall come with trumpet sound - O, may i then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne

As we grieve and yes anyone with any heart is crying for the loss of these precious little children and adults of this tragedy and all the others this year.  But lest we forget, who is crying over all the little children dying around the world.  Every second every day.  Through human trafficking , hunger, abuse, war and weather.  Who lowers the flag for these parents and children?  Yes we mourn about what happened yesterday for our own, but should we not weep and rip our hearts that millions of children are being abused and hurt and dying all the time.  For the foundations of our peoples are not built on the Rock of Jesus Christ but on sandy soil.  A every sifting and changing soil that washes away at every rain.  A foundation of greed, hate, and sins of all kinds.  Man decided to do things his way and it will not produce peace, joy or happy healthy safe children.  As the song says, "IT FELL WITH A GREAT CRASH" is exactly what is happening.

God is talking to YOU and me, are we listening?  It may not have touched you in these tragic moments but they will soon, unless you are building your foundation on the one true ROCK, Jesus Christ.  Who shed His blood for our sins.  Who died a horrible death to show us His love.  Who did NO SIN but loved us even before we knew Him.  While still in our sinful ways He loves us and wants us to come to Him and the Father .  Learning a new way to live.  Our world is crashing down around us but each individual has the opportunity to CHANGE NOW.  Time is running out.  Do not be with out the Rock to save you.

Finally, I want to say how touched I was to hear the comments of one father who's daughter was killed.  This man knew his daughter was a gift from God.  He said she was given the talent of loving all others.  Yet for reasons only God knows she was taken early to be back with God.  This grieving dad had some  peace knowing His daughter is ok and safe with God even though His own time on earth at this time was cut short.  What great faith.  God bless this man and his wife during this sorrowful time.  And all those suffering now.
