Question: Are Jesus and God ONE, or Two Entities ?

A person wrote in a question, I thought was a very good one to answer here:

Question 1:   God and Jesus, do you see them as one entity or two?  Or sometimes both?  I know they were separate when he was human, but when he was resurrected did he become one with God again?

Question 2:  Did Jesus exist before he was born on Earth?  I guess this depends on the answer of question 1. :)

A:  As John 1:1-3 states (which by the way is actually the place to begin reading not genius one)
We see that BEFORE Jesus was called Jesus Christ, He was called, "the Word".  We see that He was with GOD (the Father)  and that through Him ALL things (not some) were made.  That In Him is Life, and true knowledge to living.  (The light)  He is called the Word as He is the spokesman for God, and by His word all things are made.  He speaks and it is done.

John 1

The Word Became Flesh
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning.
3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood[a] it.

Also read:
18No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only,[e][f]who is at the Father's side, has made him known.

Here it tells us that GOD, (the Father) has never been seen by anyone but the Word, who became Jesus.  One of Jesus tasks was to make God known to us.  Here we see the words "the One and Only.

This seems hard for us to understand how God and Jesus can be "one" and yet seem like two.  But this is a spiritual thing.  The only thing we have are words to describe and words do not come near to what this is really like.  For our physical mind cannot understand any spiritual things unless your human spirit is united with the Holy Spirit.  With that done, Jesus can show you in a limited understanding, for now.  We grow every day in understanding.

It can help to look it this way, Before I was married, I was Brenda Bauer.  After I was married I became Brenda Salzano.  John and I are both Salzano's.  But I am Brenda and he is John.  We became "one" through the act of sexual union and marriage before God.  We are in God's sight, now "one".  United together. Marriage is the physical act to pro tray the HOLY union with God spiritually.
Remember though, that When a person becomes a spirit being, there will be no marriage between man or woman.  Spirit lives are not bound by physical things.
This can be a whole different topic.  But to stay on track.  There is two entities but so united they are one. One in purpose, thought, goals, etc.  But Father is over the Son.  The Son, (Jesus) does all that the Father plans.

Since we also know from the bible that God has always existed and has no beginning and no end, this answers question number two.

For thus says the high and exalted One
Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, Isaiah 57:15

great questions!  Thank you and hope this helps!!
