What shall we do, That we may Do the Works of the Lord?

John 6:26-29 (New King James Version)

26 Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. 27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” 28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

The above verse is one that God pointed out to me early yesterday morning.  First , we see that many people seek God NOT because they truly believe but because they want God to be some sort of genie.  Were you keep right on living and doing as you deem right, and hoping that when you need Him, you can just offer up this puny request, and wa la. He magically gives you your request.  We still want to proclaim, as a little child, "I do it".

It is not that I am saying it is not good to labor for your needs in life.  I am saying that man is so vain he wants to Glory in what he provides for himself.  When in fact he only has what God has allowed him to have anyhow.  We will spend more time laboring for physical needs than even giving a fraction of that time to laboring for what we need for everlasting life.
Having the big house, the extra fancy cars, the best in clothes, and of course being "seen" as others with all these false riches.

But this verse above is so much more than that!  Everyone who does answer God's call wants to know at some point, "what do I do to do the works of the Lord? and look at His simple answer!  He does not tell them to go and show everyone your good works, He does not tell all of them to go and safe the lost, he does not ask them to do great miracles in His name,(a small group of His disciples he did say this but not everyone!) He just wants us to BELIEVE and believe what He says, and Believe that He IS.

Most do NOT really believe or their actions would be proving it!

NOTE:  I personally wonder where the faith in church leaders are, when they pass around this "hat" for you to put your tithes and offerings in! So there you are, going to church. You are broke, and only have a little coin.  But because others are watching you, as that plate goes around, you give what you cannot, so as to not seem like you are being unfaithful, OR you take out your wad, and purposely make sure others see your great giving.  WHERE is the Faith of the leaders of that church to just take offerings and tithes in private!! Get rid of those open air PLates for all to see , thus promoting Judging by others.  Just saying....

I have had many conversations with bible reading, church going people who will ask me something, and then when I tell them to "Have Faith and give this to God and All the consequences", they will remark, "yea BUT"  then go on to try to explain that they still have to DO this or that.  Thus, disbelieving the promises of Jesus Christ.

That maybe if they just get more people to pray, their child will live. Does God hear you better if three of you pray or 100? Three is no better than 100.  I say to you, that if you really believe ONE is all that is needed to pray!

That if they go find a new job, and put in more hours, God will help them buy that extra car or bigger house, that when the money does not meet the demands that prayer is good, BUT  it really is up to them to find a way. More doctors, more medicines, etc.
Certainly God would not just want them to Pray and Believe in FAITH!  NOT!  God DOES want you to Believe and Trust in whatever He decides.

Number one problem we all have?  We do not want to surrender completely, the CONSEQUENCES of our problems to GOD.  What will God do?  Can I trust Him with this so fully that whatever He decides I accept??  What if it means I will lose my house?  What if it means I have to live like a pauper in humble abodes?  What if my relative dies and I don't have them around in this physical life anymore? What if, what if, what if..........

What we all need to do (including me) is to accept in total surrender, whatever God's WILL is in any given situation.  After you take something to God, you pray for days or weeks. You have studied His will, then let it GO.  LET GOD.  TRUST and BELIEVE God heard you, and accept His answer.  Which may well be NO.  Or Wait.  (God tells me that one a lot, Wait)

He tell me to Wait, do not fear, and STAND at the house of the Lord!

What is God telling you?
