"what is that to You?"

"21 Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “But Lord, what about this man?”
22 Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.”  John 21:22-23

Sometimes, I am saddened how the very ones who claim to know Christ, are the worst in causing divisions, self righteousness, and contentions.

I was recently online looking up a book, and the comments between different religious sects (but all calling themselves christians) were appalling.  What is that to you, how others worship God?  How do you know what level of understanding God has your brother or sister?  In our stubborn self righteous nature, we think, when we learn about God a little we know it all!  Then we attack others that are not up to our standards of worship!  SHAME!

Pay attention to your OWN growth and relationship with God, not where God has someone else!

I am not talking about the brother who deliberately is sinning and a brother goes to them to discuss this sin.  Or the situations that demand rebuke for actions that are leading others astray or causing divisions in the church and harming the spiritual growth.  But those who think it is their responsibility to call out specific peoples and accuse them of things they know nothing about.  NO one knows the heart of another.  Or/ How God is leading them to a greater relationship with Himself.

Philippians 2

Imitating Christ's Humility
1If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in very nature[a] God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing,
      taking the very nature
[b] of a servant,
      being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
      he humbled himself
      and became obedient to death—
         even death on a cross!
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

We can learn how to use the knowledge and wisdom God gives us, by Jesus Christ's own example.  Read and study how he handled the various situations as He walked and taught the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.  Note the only time He showed Anger!  Go find out when that was and to WHO!
We need each other in these day, do we use petty little differences to throw up a wall between us?  Can we not learn so much faster if we are kind and patient with other?
And just where do you think these divisions and thoughts come from that are the root of all our anger, and self righteousness???  You know!
Romans 16:17
I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause
divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.

  1. 1 Corinthians 1:10
Divisions in the Church ] I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.

1 Corinthians 3

On Divisions in the Church
1Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly—mere infants in Christ. 2I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. 3You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere men? 4For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere men?

In closing today, remember that no matter how long we have walked with Jesus in understanding, we still are infants to God.  We have a long way to go, we need to concentrate on our OWN development in our relationship with God. Share the GOOD news with others not as a "better than tho" person but as a brother or sister to all.

18Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a "fool" so that he may become wise. 19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: "He catches the wise in their craftiness"[a]20and again, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile."[b] 21So then, no more boasting about men! All things are yours, 22whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas[c] or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, 23and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.
